A condenser breathing that air, through a grille narrowed by a valance or boxed in by a later remodel, works at a head pressure it was never sized for, and it recovers overnight, which is exactly why owners describe the problem as something that only happens sometimes. On a full-height built-in that grille is the one above the doors, not anything down at the floor, and it is the part of the appliance a later remodel covers over most often.
